Happy Birthday, Baby Boy

My forever baby boy would be 12 years old today.  We celebrated at Blue Shutters Beach in Rhode Island. After 12 years, I've come to welcome this day and the certainty it provides -- that it will be spent with loved ones, in a beautiful place, having fun.

Beach bedroom 9

Hey, sorry for all the boring bedroom photos, but this was a major accomplishment this summer and well, it's my blog.

We switched to a bedspread because our bedroom is off the dining room now and when you look down the hall you can see under our bed before.  Not that there's much down there after a summer of decluttering, but a bedspread looks neater.  I love this bad boy and its sandy, calming neutrals.  However, the threads pull up very easily and so I have to keep yelling an everyone to get off the bed or be very careful employed a pet and children retraining program to try and keep it nice for as long as possible.

Beach bedroom 8

There was a fold down desk in the old kitchen of our house when we moved in.  It was painted bright red and had seen better days aged nicely.  Because I'm weird cool and spent the summer not getting paid  trying to stay in budget, it seemed a logical choice for wall decor in the new beachy bedroom.  So, I researched nautical signal flags and Paul and I decided on this one which stands for the letter H (house/home/haven, in our application) and Pilot on Board.  Paul agreed to the whole "painting the old desk and hanging it on the wall" plan as long as he gets to be the pilot.  Done deal! (Except for the fact that the red is bleeding through and right now it is more pink and red than white and red, sigh).
