The Daily Shoot #ds590Make a photograph that features white in a dominant manner. Use a white subject. Blow out the sky. Use your imagination.

I love how the sky disappears from this photo, leaving behind the roof line of this gorgeous, old red brick building.

The sky was glorious yesterday afternoon as I sat on my deck crocheting.
Searching for cloud shapes with Emma, the beautiful cooling breeze, and the smell of honeysuckle made it just perfect!

We spent a wonderful afternoon picnicking at the old Cotton homestead in Broad Brook Connecticut yesterday.  Built in 1850, this is the house where my dad grew up, where as a child I visited my grandparents and extended Cotton family, and where my Uncle Keith resides to this day.
I love bringing my kids here to this wonderful old house.Emma at the Cotton House

This photo is of a barn at Massaro Community Farm in Woodbridge, CT.
It was built in 1931.  The windows were what caught my eye at first.  I also love the lamp, the weathered wood, and the beautiful stone.

Lightning

Flickr Project 365/ Creative Every Day 2011
We've had severe thunderstorms the past couple of nights.
Luckily we've had no damage and no one was hurt.  Although the family tells me that before I got home, one of the close lightning bolts sent small flames up through our gas stove!  And, I thought I was having all the fun driving through the storm!
It was quite a show.
It took an amazing amount of tries before I was able to capture any of the lightning with my camera.  See the rest of the shots here.

...Instead of This:
...Instead of This
It isn't always easy to be gluten-free.
I walked into the break room at work to find a table smothered in gluten.  And, I work alone.  Just me with my banana and all that gluten in a stare-down match.
Sigh.
This time the banana won.
This time I stayed strong for not only me, but for my family too (Paul are you reading this?).  Most of the time I can fight the urge to splurge and remember that the temporary joy of eating gluten-filled items is most often not worth the three days of emotional agony and physical pain to follow.  We call that being "whacked out on wheat."
But on stressful days...sometimes the siren song of gluten is too hard to resist.
