Creative Every Day/Flickr Project 365 photo for 7/5/2010:
Painting with it was one of the day's highlights.
The photo above shows Emma's completed elephant.
This was super fun!
We mixed up a batch of self-rising flour and then followed the directions to make the paint. We talked briefly about the chemical reaction that takes place
The girls also enjoyed making up exotic colors using the recipes on the food coloring. I didn't realize how salt intensive the project was and we ran out, so that limited the number of colors, but didn't stop the creativity!
First we just explored what it was like to work with this paint.
We painted our designs and pictures and then microwaved them for several seconds.
(Finally a use for the microwave besides storing potholders!)
Check it out! This was major awesomeness!
The paint puffed, adding a whole new dimension to our work.
See...below is Emma's Elephant painting "before"...
...wait for it...
(don't worry, I spoke to Emma about not putting her precious brain next to the microwave, gah!)
Mom got in on this serious fun too!
It was extremely cool just to explore the colors, textures, and shadows.
Which quickly turned into the girls making props for their vast array of
Papo and Schliech figures.
Here is a river with a raft.
Happy Campers! Three thumbs up on this activity for all ages.
More from Mommy Camp tomorrow...and I'm starting to think about this coming week's Mommy Camp activities.
